Hi
I just come across a video using Dryrod to solve rising damp issue in cavity walls, it looks to easy DIY which made me curious, does it really work?

How did you determine the cause of the damp . A wrong diagnosis will result in a wrong solution .

Which damp?!
I came across a video and just curious if such simple DIY works.

You have to find out where the water is coming from, and cure the defect or source.

Every square metre of your wall has a square metre of bricks that water will evaporate off if you let it. What will you gain by drilling a 25mm hole in it and inserting a rod?

Post a link to the video and we may understand better how they, (supposedly), work and with what type of damp.
I.E rising, penetrating, condensation, etc.

They are made of porous ceramic. Bricks are made of porous ceramic.

Edit
The Wickes ad says that this version includes a silicone agent in fibre.

It seems to me that they leak WD40 into the middle of the bricks to stop moisture passing through, then it is not a proper porous brick any more.

My old (damp) house had some strange strip of copper pointed into the brickwork and connected to an earth rod - looked highly technical but didn't stop the damp.
