Hi,

I am about yo paint my front door (exterior) in Dulux satinwood. Is this a good idea or should I got for an exterior gloss - even though i prefer the matter looking finish of satinwood?

BTW the paint i have is interior satinwood.

look at "Eggshell" which is a traditional low-gloss paint.

you may need to go to a proper paint shop.

Go for gloss. Satinwood won't last (I've tried it).

Gloss soon loses that high gloss look anyway.

Satinwood and eggshell are interior paints and will not last outside. Unless the door is sheltered by a deep soffitt, it may be ok. Better stick with good gloss finish.

Your right !!! I didnt think about the water based option, i was thinking of the oil based version. Having said that i do not like water based paints outside ..cept for exterior emulsion of course. Call me old fashioned but...
