Previously I've always used cheap emulsion water down as mist coat on new plaster. Today I tried trade vinyl matt (watered down 5:1) and it went on a treat.

However, just come online and keep reading that vinyl matt shouldn't be used as the first coat...why exactly?

One room we've done will stay white(so will apply another coat of the same) and the other room will have a colour on top.

Dulux info sheet says it can be used to seal new plaster if water down so what problems are they?
