I need to fit a path light which comes on at dusk and off around 4 hours later.
Anything reliable on the market suitable for this ??

The lamp will be a low energy 15 or 20 watt.

for a low-energy lamp, it is not worth spending more money than it takes for an off-the-shelf photocell controlled lantern that runs dusk-to-dawn

Consider that 12 hrs a day at 15W will use about 2p worth a day

reducing it to 6hrs would save you 1p a day

About £3.50 a year.

You can buy a photocell lamp for £10 to £25 according to taste.

You can buy a adjustable timer controlled photocell device for about £15, on top of the cost of a plain lantern. Not worth it.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm, you are right on that.
What is the most reliable Dusk to Dawn switch ?

I would prefer to pay that bit extra rather than fit junk.
