Earth bonding wire

Does it matter what size the strands are in 10mm and 4mm earth bonding wire ,the reason I ask is because someone has got me some wire and the strands are quite fine and the wire is flexible I thought the wire should be more rigid but he assures me it's ok.
 
It sounds like you have tri rated cable. This is perfectly acceptable. It is generally only used where the extra flexibility is required due to the increased cost of the cable.
