I have a mirror with 2 d hooks on the back already fixed.

Its always a huge ballache measuring the distance between then and measuring on the wall etc it takes forever and the screws always seem to be half a cm out or something.

Would it be easy to put some string through the d hooks somehow and just hang that on 2 hooks on the wall?

Yes, I thought that's what they were for.
String looped through one D to the other and one hook is even easier.

What do you mean?

Wheres the best place to get the correct wire, the mirror is about 10kg, ill be fixing to breezeblock, just need appropriate wire

Ive just realised the d hooks face up rather than sideways like they are supposed to, to use a wire, urgh

A centre line on the wall and the same on the back of the mirror helps, as a point of reference.

Height wise, just hold the mirror in the desired position and make a feint top-of-the-mirror mark on the wall and measure down to your hook positions.

Only ever drill one hole first and put your plug in. Make sure the plug is snug and not in a perp joint or any other void for that matter. Then mark off your next hole measuring and levelling of the exiting hole.

An easy method, which is more secure than wire or cord is:
  • Hold spirit level against back of mirror
  • Mark on spirit level where hangers are
  • Hold spirit level to wall at desired postion and height
  • Transfer marks to wall
  • Tap masonry nail or similar into wall make a starting holes
  • Drill into wall (Keep drill level to avoid that few mm out of level issue)
  • Insert plug (Rawlplug Uno are my favourites)
  • Insert two panhead screws (countersunk are acceptable)
  • Hang mirror onto screws
  • Job done
