Hi

I have 2 control switches with neon like this >>

They arranged side by side inside my airing cupboard. One was for Economy7 the other just a manual boost.

The Econ7 one never did anything (it lights up but I'm guessing the heating element is damaged in the tank). I've since got rid of Econ7 anyway. Had a proper qualified electrician remove the 2 consumer units and put one standard new consumer unit in.

Anyway at the moment the only way I can get hot water is to use the boost switch, it seems to work fine, 20mins gives loads of hot water. But its a pain to remember to turn it off.

What I would like is some programmable box where I can get it to come on for say 30mins in the morning and same at night etc etc

I asked my electrician who did the Econ7 thing and he quoted me £100 to install something like that.

That seemed a lot to me, is it something simple I can buy for say £30-40 and install myself or am I missing something here?

Thanks for your time as always!

Hi
or am I missing something here?

Probably just that electricians need to make a living...

Thing is this guy is kind of a mate of a mate and got a special deal on the other work he did.

He did some highly specialized work for mate's rates so when he wanted £100 for this job I wondered if it was more complicated than I thought.

I'm happy to pay if its a skilled/qualified job I couldn't do myself.
