However, as you know, we are required to undertake calculations on the basis of 230V, whatever you may think about that.
Kind Regards, John[/quote

Where is that written down? If so it seems people are following a silly directive like sheep rather than using their brain.

Where is that written down?
You know where - you've been told before:

The mains voltage in the UK is not 230v, it is 240v.
Wrong.

230v is a European harmonised standard with tolerances
Which applies here - see p 294 of the current edition of the Wiring Regulations.
But they don't. We use 240/415,
No, we use 230/400. It says so in the Wiring Regulations, have you not been paying attention?

But you refuse to accept it.

You seem to think that refusing to accept it means you are using your brain and not being a sheep. But that's just one more thing you are wrong about - it makes you an idiot.

Have you never seen it stated that nominal voltage is 230V?

I am aware of this big con, yes. The voltage has never changed since it was nominally 240V and I understand there are no plans to change it. Only the allowed tolerances have changed.

It's not a con, and it is the nominal voltage which has changed.

It is the nominal voltage which is to be used in calculations.

Do you know what nominal means?

You get simple quoting wrong so often that the only reason can be that you simply don't give a **** about doing things properly.

Just the same as your attitude to using the correct value for voltage in calculations.

Go away.

As i said the correct value is the actual voltage not some made up figure that is never found in practice either in the UK or Europe.
