Can anybody tell me how easy it is to change a electric cooker. All I want to do is replace the current one with a new one?

If the current rating is similar, VERY easy. Just turn it off at the fuse/breaker first. (15 mins)

I'd also double check that the circuit is no longer live before working on it!

I have been told that is like re-wiring a plug, is that correct?

Similar...Certainly not the same..Ensure power is off, take your time. Double check what you do....Then get the wife to turn it on.
