Hi
I am renovating a property which has a 70's granite fronted fireplace. It is not working - nor am I intending to get it back to a usable state - flue and firebrick are both broken. I have had thermalined board with a plaster on top ready for a wall mounted tv above the fireplace. But - can I put in an electric fire in the inset of the fireplace without it melting my tv?

Any help or advice gratefully received....

No, you cannot. Whatever type of heater or fire you get, most of the heat will rise and cause damage to the television.

Televisions should be mounted so that they are at eye level when viewers are seated. Unless giants live in your home, fixing it above a fireplace is far too high, and will result in neck strain.
