apologies, wasn't sure where to post couldn't see a gates section

Trying to get my head around which would be better - a cantilever gate or sliding on track?

which is more discrete, can I use an underground motor for sliding?

Will be getting installed as worried about safety

Thanks

The rules are so strict now on motorised gates, you need an expert to tell you what you can fit. Even large firms have got into trouble fitting electric gates, it is a specialist thing and no short cuts you will need to employ a specialise firm to fit them.

Don't even think about DIY or the builder wot Fred daown the road recommends.

This report is what we are talking about. It seems Cheshire Gates and Automation Limited made some errors, as you read the reports it does seem they followed manufacturers instructions, but these were not good enough. Having worked in factories it is hard enough to ensure machines are safe when used by adults, the problem with gates is they are used by children.

Some people do seem to get away with what I would think are unsafe gates, however on a resent news program they were showing level crossing gates and there was a pole with cameras so some one in theory at least is checking before the gates close, garage doors have same problem, it is one thing sitting in your car opening the gates or garage door, but some thing different then going into the house and pressing a button to close them.
