Hi, just had a new meter fitted, Ampymetering 5235A, and the guy who was installing it said that if it was interfered wth in any way a fault/error code would be displayed, the guy was a "jobsworth" and would'nt tell me any more, anybody got any info?

Yup sorry it's true. 
Different meters do different things.
Some the LED changes colour while others would display something not so obvious on the display.
Believe the new Smart metering and possibly the key meter used in most areas now can send the tamper info straight to the supplier.
