I have bought a brand new indesit oven without hob. It has a plug on the wire and i intended to plug it in the normal plug socket. However, i have been told that i might need to have a speacial socket fitted. Can anyone help... :(

If its got a regular UK 13A plug on it then its designed to go into a standard socket.

You can check the rating of the oven - the plate will probably be on the door. You are OK to plug in if its rated at less than 3000watts (3KW).

while correct in his statement, an oven is a large load to have on the kitchen ring along with everything else..

try not to plug any other large appliances or the kettle / toaster into the same double socket..

it's best to have a seperate "appliance" ring or several radials for the washer / oven / dishwasher etc..
