are they as good as they appear in the adverts? I saw an ad for the Rems mains powered one.

How are they at bending, say, 28mm?

Nice!!

Is that an attachment to a standard drill or something??

Or did you Macgyver it :)

That's a bit modern for you Dickie....Have you left the steam age?

Rems one is good but doesnt work with our grade of copper in the uk. It ripples it like mad. You can use it but you have to buy table Y copper which is about twice the price...

Not true, I too have a REMS 110v copper tube bender & it works perfectly well on Table X copper tube.

Yep. Or one very much like it. Back in the day we used a Hilmor 2" bender for 2" galvanised pipe. It would bend with ease (no ripples) and accuracy - it had to because the pipe ends were threaded, so the bend had to be spot on.

The cordless above is fascinating - does it pay for itself? i had no idea that such a tool existed.

Of course, i've done most of my plumbing in a place where no copper pipe bending is allowed. Union rules and union influence on the Plumbing Code - no bending, gas to be in galv or black pipe, one apprentice for every two tradeswomen/men, digging and clean up by union laborers only etc.

Ditto to ree above, it wasn't really my job, but as there were only 2 of us on maintenance we mucked in to get whatever job done. Bent all sizes up to the 2" and the similar one we had did it fairly easily IIRC, certainly did a good bend. BUT if you look down that page you'll see that the minimum wall thickness is 2.5mm. So it, and it's formers are for iron pipe. I'm not a plumber, but all the benders I've seen for thin wall copper have a former of some sort to support outside as well as inside the bend. I'm well out of date though.

I'll let you know. Your info came 2 mins after I ordered and the item comes tomorrow

Update: it'll be
