Hi, after a bit of advice please. I've got a Triton Amber III that is around 3 years old. Recently the shower head has starter to get clogged with large pieces of lime scale and needs to be cleaned out every week. My first thought was to simply replace the shower as it's only around 50quid but I thought this isn't going to help the route cause. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the shower, once the head has been cleaned out the pressure is no worse than when it was new. I guess it's just got to a point where there is no more room for lime scale to stick to the heating elements so it falls off cause the head to block?

So what are my options? I'm guessing best long term option would be a water softener but at the moment I can't really afford that. I have done a search and seen there are a couple of options for lime scale inhibitors - cheap end of the scale are the magnetic ones, bit pricier are the polyphosphate. Do either of these really work or is there something else I should try or just replace the shower?

Thanks for any advice!

polyphosphate works.

Magnets work in the same way that a copper bracelet cures rheumatism.

Combimate scale reducers work well
Would these affect the flow rate much?

Cider vinegar removes limescale from shower heads.
That it does, but it doesn't stop the route cause.

:LOL::LOL::LOL:

So my plan is after googling the insides is to take apart the shower, get as much scale out of the heater with descaler or spirits of salts and also fit a polyphosphate filter - would something like this be any good or any recommendations? https://www.screwfix.com/p/bwt-polyphosphate-1-stage-whole-house-scale-reduction-system/20315 (hope links are ok on this site!)

Thanks for the advice everyone (y)
