My Triton Opal which has worked perfectly for the last 3 years, now trips my RCD in the consumer unit under the stairs. The shower is 9.5KW connected using 10mm cable.

Does anyone know what is happening, as the shower works for 10 seconds and then trips the RCD with all other electrical appliances cutting out due to the trip.

Sounds like the heating element is corroded and is mow in contact with the water.

Shower starts up and water flow starts. Shower waits a few seconds to make sure water is there before firing up the heating element.
At that point the fault trips the RCD.
I agree with Sean. Go get another 9.5KW shower.

Just spoke to triton and they belive the heating element is faulty. For a small fee they will come and repair the existing shower which includes any replacement heating module.

I would rather repair the existing than mess around with drilling and plumbing of a new unit.

why not see how much the same make / model is, then is that cheaper than the small fee?

same make model = nothing to alter

Hello stranger!
