I'm pulling up all the tiles in my kitchen and want to put down electric ufh then slate tiles on top.

I have a suspended wooden floor with ply on the top of the boards. I've been trying to read up about it and the advice seems to be to use 12mm ply on top of the boards. The ply that is already down is 6mm and all the units are on top of this so I don't really want to pull this up. The floor boards are all solid, how necessary is the other 6mm? Can I just lay the electric mat on top of the existing ply and then use some self leveling compound and tile on top of that?

Also, can I just get any flexible self leveling compound or can you get specific stuff for ufh?

Cheers!
