Electrical pipe freezer 25mm MDPE pipe

Has anyone used one of these to successfully freeze MDPE pipe? Not of the clamps fit to give a good enough seal on the pipe from testing. Havent tried to freeze yet.

1. I've used the same machine on plastic (Hep2O, not MDPE). No issues except that you need to ensure the freeze head stays attached to the pipe. Couple of cable ties in addition to the usual screw worked for me.
2. You will presumably use the 28mm head. Wrap some strips of aluminium foil round the pipe to get it to size. Best to also use the heat transfer paste if you've got it.
3. As you are probably aware, it won't freeze if there is any flow through the pipe.

Thanks yes the foil as you say would probably pack it out enough to freeze it

Heat transfer paste around the pipe then foil to get to make it a decent fit for the pipe you'd suggest?

Heat transfer paste on the foil strip(s) then wrap round the pipe then a bit more on the freeze head.

I used to use baby lotion on the heads when used on pipework.

I had the freeze master.

Did you ever try it on MDPE?

I was always taught wet tissue for packing, but yes the principle is the same. It can take a long time to get a successful freeze on plastic

Just testing it on a piece of plastic I have with water in capped off at one side...

If is still freezing it in under 10 minutes

Did you ever try it on MDPE?

No, I used a squeeze off tool on MDPE when needed.
