Hi there,

A quick question for all you proffessionals out there, i am going to fit an electrtic shower soon and just wondered which grading of cable i should run to my mains board for the supply, i appreciate this should be connected by a suitably qualified electrician but would hate to run the wrong one across the house.
and.... where should the RCD be, at the electrical box or nearer to the shower itself (obviously not in the bathroom though).

Many Thanks,
leestq.......

Better talk to the electric man, otherwise you might find he takes it out and puts his own piece of wire in, as HE HAS TO INSTALL IT or he can't certify it.

Rcd needs to be at consumer unit, double pole isolating pull switch in bathroom(preferably) and cable size depends on shower size rule of thumb but depends on installation methods is 8.5KW and below 6mm T&E, 9 and above 10mmT&E.

put 10mm in then can up grade the shower without electrics at a later date.
