Any of you guys or gals employ someone? I am a sole trader and am thinking of taking on an apprentice or a learner. Can you tell me the ins and outs tax wise and insurance? I am told it costs too much to employ directly for a small business! Any advice?

For advice on employing an apprentice try JT limited the training provider who will help you out.
ill ask my wife a bit later, as we are juggling a child with chicken pox at the moment. shes an accountant.
I employ 2 and from my point of view its fairly straight forward, but as she deals with the payroll, paye etc ill get the low down from her for you. its not as onerous as it sounds. Are you a sole trader or a limited company?
