Electricity Check Meter Installation

Hello everybody,
Is there an electrician out there please that has experience of fitting a check meter? We have bought a garage at the end of someone's garden to house a classic car. The garage has electricity with sockets and lights installed and the electricity at present is supplied from the main house. We want to use that electricity but need to measure its use. It has been suggested we get a Check Meter installed(obviously by a qualified electrician) in the main house for this purpose. Firstly do we need have a new armoured cable laid to the garage approx 50ft down the garden or will the existing one do? The cable (underground)and the wiring has been professionally fitted incidentally. Secondly will it be disrupting for the house owner to have it fitted as she is a nervous elderly lady and we don't want to bother her unduly. Also can it be sited next to her main meter if there is room or does it have to be elsewhere? Any other info on Check Meters (good or bad) would also be useful.

You would need to get an electrician to fit it as i would want to check the condition of the cable before i started to make any alterations but it is a fairly simple process to fit a "Sub billing meter". A check meter is used to check the acuracy of your main meter.

If the existing wiring checks out, it should take no more than 2 hours to fit.
