I was working in a night club today on on completely unrelated problem, when we discovered the following.

We managed to gather from the manager that the old supply cable (to a hairdressers shop above) got severed during a refit sometime last year.

The DNO (YEDL) duly attended and carried out the repair.
This is what they left. :x

Nice new cutout on the end of the cable.
Tails strug accross the ceiling.
Earth not connected.

Tails joined onto a bit of supply cable.

Some sort of joint taped up in a bag.

How come we all work to a high standard (BS7671), yet the DNOs can get away with absoloute s***e like this?

You know what I'm going to ask now, don't you? [He says, with a glint in his eye... ]

On one level, it gives me a warm glow to know that I would never stoop that low and do shoddy work like that.

On another, it makes me VERY angry to think that someone else would.

Don't worry it's only a temporary, they'll be back on Monday to put it right
