To cut a long story short I have kicked our builder off our home, but as a result now have to finish the job.

My question is how much work can I do to the electrics without being qualified? I have read the latest regs, part P etc.

I want to add both electric sockets to the existing ring main and also add new lighting.

Can I do everything myself? If I can, do I then need to get it certified by an authorised electrician afterwards?

Regards

Mark

Additions are OK as long as they are not in a special location.

The article in the Wiki: http://wiki.diynot.com/electrics:part_p:diy_electrical_work_and_the_law has a list of what is notifiable and what is not. But it's the same list that you will have seen when you read up on the law, so....

The article in the Wiki: http://wiki.diynot.com/electrics:part_p:diy_electrical_work_and_the_law tells you how it works, but if you require a Building Regulations completion certificate for the electrics, your plan is not how it works....
