Just read a couple of threads re Part-P and am now very confused.

Going to re decorate my downstairs cloakroom which currently has a loo, wash basin, light switch inside the room and a light fitting on a lead hanging from the ceiling.

Going to move the washbasin, replace the ceiling and fit a couple of low energy downlights.

Can I still leave the light switch inside the room, does the work need to be carried out by a certified electrician or can I legally do it myself?

Thanks

Cloakroom is not classed as a special location, and the works you describe are minor, so I'd say not notifiable.

It is acceptable to have a lightswitch within a WC. It is rooms containing a bath or shower where it is not permissable.

Thanks.

Seems very difficult these days to know what you can and cannot do. How joe public that doesn't have access to helpful people like yourself is meant to know is beyond me. Not helped of course by all this property porn programs. But that's a different story :D

:)
