Electronic cigs.

Better off just giving up. The actual 'hit' in cigarettes comes from the tar reducing the oxygen. It's a bit like those people that throttle themselves (INXS singer).

So, your saying nicotine patches are no good then, they worked for me, they don't produce tar.

It's not what gives you the rush though. Be a man and go cold turkey.

How will you ever stop by using something like this which just reminds you of what you're trying to stop doing...bizarre.
Patches do work- if you have one on then theoretically you are getting the addictive bit and can wean yourself off. The rest is down to your brain and saying "you are GIVING UP smoking" is a negative statement. You're giving up nothing- you are getting your health and life back.

And it's much easier to do these days if you also go to pubs, before was almost impossible. Now you only have to "run the gauntlet" of sad gaunt losers huddled in the doorways not have them near you all night...
And if you don't, i'd say take up some exercise you'll soon realise what you are gaining. Don't need to turn into a mentalist though and go for this years London Marathon....long walks up steep hills work wonders and don't wreck an out of tune body...
Good luck...

Just give up, why pay a 3rd party for another "drug"?
Easy enough if you want to.

9 yrs now without a ciggie.

PS Smoking in pubs ( or the banning) meant nothing, its called willpower.

All fine and dandy, if you can find a pub that's still open these days. A dying trade now (unless you happen to live in a city centre). Local's weren't just a place to have a drink, they were the centre of many a community. A place to meet people socially, have a chinwag, catch up on the latest gossip/local news. Some were the hub of the community
Sadly many local pubs have closed down, never to reopen (at least not as a pub)

Ahh,,,,, and there I thought us smokers were addicted to nicotine. ...... Turns out we're all wrong and are actually addicted to tar. (always wondered why I like the smell when the roads are being resurfaced)

It takes 10 to 20 seconds for the nicotine to get into your bloodstream.

Luckily for me, our local council are doing the tarmac pavements in our area at the moment. Smells lovely when you walk past and they're just spreading the fresh , hot tarmac out.

Thanks FM.
Suppose I was being optimistic thinking I would get 'sensible' encouragement. :?

Have you heard about lazer therapy! Heard some good things about it! I considered it, but ended up going cold turkey. Been clucking for 12 weeks now and counting......

Ironically that is a gaming forum with a population with an average age of twenty something and there are sensible threads on there that have been going for years! Plenty of kids on there of course but by enlarge it puts the GD section of this forum to shame!
