Electronic cigs.

What are you hanging around with kids for? Very Freddie Merc.

Handyman. Well done. Keep up the good work and positive attitude.
I gave up for 10 months in 1993 but was given a ciggy by a young
WPC after being run off the road by an artic lorry. Her reasoning was, "If you'd been killed would it have been worth packing in?"

Suppose if I lived in America I'd be able to sue her for getting me started again!

Quite true FM.

How will you ever stop by using something like this which just reminds you of what you're trying to stop doing...bizarre.

They are not sold (except by pharma) as quitting aids.

I know people that use them because....

1. They only produce water vapour so can be legally smoked in restaurants, bars and bus stops etc, they produce no smell or pollution and so only annoy the joe-90s of the world. I have been near people smoking them, you really can't smell anything.

2. They are much much healthier, and give most of the hit of a fag (people say they are not as "heavy"), not everyone wants to give up, but that doesn't mean they won't take a healthier option (healthier doesn't mean healthy).

3. they are MUCH MUCH cheaper

A lot of pharmaceutical companies are trying to have them banned/controlled (the quitting aid industry is worth billions), and they lobby MP's exaggerating their bad health effects.

Clearly inhaling vapour laced with nicotine is not going to be that good for you, but any idiot can see its thousands of times better than breathing ash and tar.

When you get up in the morning have a cig, and then one every hour, next day have obe when you get up then one every two hours and so on, before you know it you have stopped smoking and it help the gradual reuction of nic in your bod.

When you get up in the morning have a cig.

I would rather no thanks, it's a dirty habit and I don't appreciate you trying to get people hooked on this deadly drug.

It wasn't pointed at you and it was an option for a smoker to stop, it works.

Maybe you should stop taking acid and you would realise that it's not the world revolving around you it's the drugs.

I was a 40-a-day man, and I thought I had a cold which had gone down on my chest. I ended up in A&E with a drip feeding me antibiotics, and nebulisers 4 times a day. I had chronic bronchitis! Three days in a hospital bed where I could not smoke, and I have not smoked since. It's coming up to three months now, and in that time two of my sons have stopped altogether, one with the help of "an electric fag" and the other two are trying very hard, but finding it very difficult.

No they don't.

Are you a reformed smoker joe?
Have you tried these devices?
If so how many different types?
If you, or others posting negative replies, have not done this how can you justify YOUR responses?
No-one can give a personal opinion unless they have personal experience which is the aim of my original post.

If anyone has personal experience of these then I am interested in your opinions.
If all you can do is point out that this research and that research say this or that then I'm not interested. I can read about that myself but I want personal experiences to help me reach a valid decision.

I did smoke years ago (about 30). That's how I know that the initial rush is not from nicotine - as the rush is instant. Just give it up like I did. Even Russian Roulette gives you a 1 in 6 chance of survival. With tobacco - it's 1 in 2 - the same as flipping a coin. Head's you live an unhealthy life - tails you die a nasty death.
