Hi,

Is there anything in the regs that prohibits the use of T&E to distribute 12VDC?

I plan on using a central power supply for a set of LED lighting and would rather use T&E than buy a different cable type.

The distances are short so voltage drop shouldn't be a problem.

Cheers,

T&E will be fine. I would still advise you do calculations for VD before installing the cable as even very short runs can cause problems when used with ELV.

And when calculating use the formula based on current and not based on wattage at the end of the cable. Most of the simple calculations use watts with Volts assumed to be 230 volts which means the results for current and hence voltage drop are wrong and are 1/20 of the actual values.
