The XHF unit fits most housings, but the fitting may need CE certifying if you adapt it yourself.

AIUI it would only need you to CE certify it if you were offering it for sale. I don't think that modifying something already installed, or during installation counts.

it depends on your definition of "flush" BAS..
to me flush is recessed so that it is not protruding from the surface.. ( or protruding as little as possible )

like a socket backbox.. the white ones are surface mount, the fast fix or metal backboxes are flush fit ones..

the fitting he has shown I would define as a surface mount one..
