At present if someone goes into debt they cannot be forced to have a prepayment meter and it requires a court warrant for a force fit meter
metering companies at present are telling people their present smart meters need upgrading as they are getting to end of life(lies) .
And the new smart meters they are putting in can be turned from a credit meter to a pre payment meter at press of a few buttons back in the office .
So once people go into debt then there is no need for a court warrant and meters will be turned in a prepayment with very little hassle for the companies

Just to cheer us all up the news just came up with a new poverty level. Those that spend more than 30% of their income of rent. Mostly applies to younger people - I wonder?
Seems people are bidding rent up to get properties and are unlikely to get them if they don't.

More - 4 out of 10 of the under 30's.
