Hello,

I've recently created a separate annex which has been rented out. I have noticed the tenants are constantly leaving the lights on deliberately even when not at home and also throughout the night. Im not very strict but I don't like people abusing and wasting energy for the fun of it. There is a skylight in the bathroom and I noticed the light is on all night as I can see the glow from my landing window.

The annex has its own consumer unit fitted with the power being drawn from the main house.

Do you have any products you could recommend to monitor energy consumption? Also I've seen some product that I can add to make It into a paid meter but has a surge fee of up 15percent so not sure on this.

Any suggestions on this appreciated thanks

MIHO006 and I am sure there are many more, I had one free from Scottish power before the Smart meter role out, however not really accurate enough to charge some one for electricity used with a simple clamp-on meter, it does not measure volts, the one from Scottish power was used instead of an estimated reading and meter read once a year and corrected, was within £5 a year so not bad, it does question why we needed a smart meter.

An internet hunt for electric meter and there are loads.
