engine not firing

after replacing the enduro engine on my daughters 1997 ford ka it wont start,i kept the original engine management system, coil, replaced the crankshaft sensor.she sparks and smells of petrol when turned over. you can also hear the petrol pump running ,anybody any thoughts apart from the obvious one of throwing the whole lot over a cliff

Did you replace the engine like for like? (same engine)

Hi mate I've sorted it thanks more by luck than judgement it was the camshaft sensor ,had to be really when i sat and pondered over a cup of tea ,if you got fuel ,and a spark and the two aren't coming together at the right time timings out and that is controlled by senses thanks any way andy
