I have a new build flat with engineered oak floor throughout aside from in the bedroom (carpet) and bathroom (tiles).

I want to replace the bedroom carpet with a closely matching engineered oak floor.

I tried contacting the developers and architects to get the exact same planks, but couldn't get hold of them via email. It was also built 8 years ago so unlikely to still be in production. Although wondering if I could maybe call them

How can I figure out the correct thickness of plank to lay down (+ underlay)?

I can't find any loose boards or cut away boards around pipes to measure. Even in the service cupboard.

remove a threshold strip in a doorway or where the carpet joins the flooring to have a look ??
if no screws visible, the top may clip off

Thanks for this, @big-all

Stupid question alert, but how do I remove the threshold strip?

Just realised you mentioned the top might clip off.

Tried prising gently with a screwdriver, but maybe I need to apply more force

The steel carpet freehold with be nailed down ( or screwed ) you would need to rip up the carpet to access .
You could buy any engineered oak , any difference in thickness would be marginal and you would still need a threshold which would hide any discrepancy .
