I have an open plan living room kitchen and have purchased pre-oiled engineered oak plus a container of oil.
I have previously taken down a wall so i have 2 different coverings.
1 side is half floorboards and half concrete.
other side is half floorboards with mahogany parquet and half concrete with mahogany parquet.
Now can i just use leveling compound to even this out. I would prefer not to put down boards as have a low beam on kitchen side. ??
Do i need to use a DPM ??
If we consider worst case scenario (washing machine rupture) so water spilling everywhere How best to protect my floor. Is it to use unbroken bead of glue along T & G edges or fix some other way .?? Would it be better to use PVA either on the joints or on the underside. ?? Although sounds like it may inhibit breathing of product.
Any help appreciated.
