I've got a cellar door hatch in the floor and I'm putting in engineered wood floor throughout the flat so it's all one continuous flow and level.

What can I use around the edges of the cellar door opening?

You could a hard wood frame around. Both to the floor and the cellar trap door.

The floor will be the trap door. Originally it was just an open hole with steps. Then someone just laid floor boards over the hole that you had to lift each time.

I've cut a piece of 27mm ply which is now hinged and I'll lay my engineered floor over that too.

I did a bit of googling and came across L Sections - haven't found the right one yet, but that would probably do it.
