My friend's Epson DX4800 printer will print out ok copying a document from his PC but if he tries to copy a paper using his scanner, it prints out with two x 1inch black vertical lines on the right hand side of the paper. Any ideas as to why this happens would be appreciated.

if you scan straight into the computer, does the image have the same lines??

sorry for delay in replying again, but I've only just been to my friend's house. He has another problem now whereby he gets the black lines after printing a document out from Word! Two black lines down the right hand side, but nothing else on the page. Weird! I think there must be a major fault with his printer and re-installing the printer from the beginning after removing it via Add and Remove Programmes doesn't seem to cure the problem. Any more clues as to what it could be? Thanks!
