Erbauer mitre saw - blade not spinning

Just to clarify. Are you saying you can turn the cog, (correctly referred to as a gear), but the square stub you have in your left hand doesn't turn?
Can you clamp the square stub in a vice, turn the gear one way and try to turn the housing in the opposite direction?

Hello, with the stub and gear removed, I turn the stub and the gear turns with it but if I hold the gear and turn the stub in either direction the gear stays still and the hub still turns freely. Thanks

You were concerned about spares. If you are still having problems, give Solent Tools a look. They certainly supply spares for some Erbauer tools and may be able to help

For anyone else with this issue, it is likely the key way in the bearing shaft that has failed, these can be bought on Amazon and filed down to size, it’s approx 4.5x4.5x8mm so bought the 5x5x8mm and will file down to size. Will reapply grease and renew bushes at same time… total parts cost less than £10, well worth the bash if you have the patience!
