Essentails Power Shower

Hi there, my parents have an essentials power shower (I think its made by Mira, but essentials is B&Q or Hombase brand). They have it wired upto a pull cord switch, but this seems to be the only way to turn it on or off.

Example when the pull switch is off, the shower is not running, when the pull switch is on, but the flow dial on the front of the shower is in the off position, water is still flowing, any ideas?

Is there only one knob on the front? They usually have 2 knobs, or 1 knob and some buttons.

There are 2 knobs, one controls the flow and the other controls the temp, but there are no buttons.
