More help needed. We have an existing essex flange into our HW cylinder. I want to use it to feed a Salamander ESP shower pump.

Is this "fit for purpose"?

If so I'd like to check that it has the "birds beak" on the end of the pipe, and that the pipe goes in far enough (4" as per Salamander guidelines). How does it come undone? I don't want to disturb the cylinder connection - just the pipe. There's three nuts on it - a huge one nearest the tank, one in the middle, and a third where the pipe leaves. Which does what?

Thanks
Ant

I'd leave well alone mate and fit a new one, they're only about £15 and you'll get what you want rather than disturbing something that perhaps doesn't.

Tony.

OK - I see what you're saying, but I need to use this one really. It's in the right place, it currently feeds the shower so it will be redundant if I don't reuse it, and it's in exactly the right place on the tank to connect to.

I just want to check the pipe length inside the tank, or put a new pipe through if it's wrong.

What do I need to hold still, and what do I need to undo?

Well I needed to do something so I undid the outer nut and the pipe came off. Putting my finger inside tells me there's no pipe inside, and no birds beak.

Can I reuse this flange?

If not, should I remove it and replace it in the same hole? Or block it off outside the tank and fit another elsewhere?
