Went to my local builders merchants today, grabbed a few bags of sharp sand.
OK i counted, about 4 shovels in each. So the bags looked about half full.
So i said that's half a bag..he just grumbled back it being a fking bag.

So 4 shovels of sand, i expected 6 or so, enough to stagger into van with... or do i just find a less stingy builders merchant? Think i paid about £3.10 each for em

Sounds like the going rate for 40kg bag. You're shovel is obviously too big

Buy it by the cu/m then. They cant fill the bags full, because they would burst as they are moved around and picked up, so they leave room for movement of the sand. Sand in small bags is normally sold by weight, not shovels per bag. ;)

And while were are on the subject....

Exactly how much wood can a woodchuck, chuck?

I don't mean to be pedantic but, since they can't actually chuck wood, the real question should be. "how much wood would a woodchuck chuck?

OK, I confess the pendandicity was totally intentional :)

EEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHH Ah doant realy Know Chuck

I get 8 shovel fulls of sand out of the bags I buy ( about £1.10 from Wickes ).
But then I'm a pathetic weak girlie, and have to use a small shovel.

Just been watching Mike Brewer, a bag-a-sand = a grand = a thazand pand.
