Expansion gap?

Anyway here goes.

4mm expansion gap per m correct, is that at either end or total?

Room is 3.22m x 5.1m so 13mm gap and 20mm gap respectively, but 10mm min at either end is what I will probably go for, would that be OK?

The way to calculate the width of the expansion gap for Solid Oak floorboards you have to leave around the whole perimeter of the room - no matter where - is as follows:
measure the widest part of the room, times 4mm per meter width = expansion gap.
Wood expands in the width so that's why you take the width of the room, not the length of the room (under the presumption you install your wood floor parallel the longest wall).
Yours would be 3.22 x 4 = 13 - 14 mm on all ends of the wood floor (and don't forget in front of fire places, coves etc etc etc)
