 Hallo... We currently have an electric ceramic hob (5.2kw) and an electric oven (13amp type) which are both wired in through a connection plate then to the cooker control unit and then to the fuse box (about 3m away) With a 40amp MCB in place. Fairly new 6mm2 cable in place.

We want to move these items in the kitchen (about 2m), so my question is can we make an extention to this circuit by using a junction box?

If the junction box is suitably rated then yes. This is notifiable work, so make sure you tell your BCO that you are carrying out the work before you start.

Remember that junction boxes have to be accessible.

:D Thanks very much for that quick response davy. Really helpful.

Could I ask you another question, related to the job...

The built-in oven (13 amp) is currently wired directly into the connection plate (with the hob) and then up to the cooker control unit. Is this OK? or should it go via a 13amp FCU first and then to the connection plate?

thanks
