Extending loft light

The light in my loft isn’t in a good place and only lights up half the loft. The loft has a long pitched roof of about 7m and there is a single bayonet light about 2m into the space and the nothing lighting the rest of the way so it’s like a long cave with light at one end. I want to extend the light as easily as possible without having to get an electrician in. What is the best way to do it? Is there anything I can plug into the bayonet fitting to extend the light? Or how simple would it be to add in a second light or change it for a strip light?

(Please don't suggest battery lights as it's uninsulated so I have a feeling battery powered lights won’t be any use as it gets very hot or very cold up there so the batteries will wear out quickly).

Turn all the power off get a good torch then,

Clip a 1mm twin and earth from that light to a new light, connect live neutral and earth (sleeve the bare earth green and yellow)

It should be that simple

A bayonet plug is available but IMO they are expensive for what they are. Providing you are going to feed a lamp that does not require an earth, then one of these will be what you are looking for. Use only two core to feed the new lighting position and make sure you take care with the terminations.

Get an LED Baton and as Pete says extend off the existing light it's an easy enough job. One thing I'd also do is staple some Silver Radiator Heat reflector foil near the top of the Rafters as this reflects light where you want it..
