Extending mains cable?

Ah I see.

Would the cable tidies be plastic white mini trunking ?

If so it sounds like some cowboy did a rewire over the tiling and reused the back boxes from the previous installation

Best is to chase the cables in, but that possibly will mean a full re-tile of the walls (unless the tiles are 10 a penny contract items).

So you need to tidy up trunking and provide a surface box !

Measure the size of the trunking it's likely to be 16 x 16 or 16 x 25.

Buy 1 of these

They make a mini trunking adapter (to make a poor job look as good as it can)

You then have trunking, adapter that sits between the box and trunking (clipping in to the box).

Then do the same on the other side of the box onward to the next socket.

The next link shows a supplier that will stock all trunking sizes.

If you are handy it's possible to mount the new back box directly over the old one and use 60mm x 10's screws to fix- although full back box removal and back fill is best.

If so then the cables could be replaced, and no f*rting around with choc-block would be needed....

Still this to be resolved though:
So you have one cable supplying two sockets?
Leaving a multiple socket spur (possibly) alone is one thing - replacing the sockets and thus becoming responsible for it is quite another.....
