Trying to install my shower valve in the airing cupboard behind the shower.
Basically the spindle with the toothed gear on the end that the handle locks into does not reach far enough due to the thickness of my wall.
the shower valve is fixed to a sheet of ply that is plaster boarded and then tiled with natural stone which makes it too thick. about 40-50mm. I therefore need to extend the toothed spindle somehow. Is this possible. See pic of what I am referring to attached.

good idea
IS there nothing readily available then? Surprises me that I am the only one that has had this problem. Had the same problem with the shower arm that can only clamp to a wall a couple of inches thick tops. I have had to extend this with the a couple of couplers and some additional 1/2" threaded pipe.

Opened the box, read the instructions, it didn't fit.
Did I make a mistake opening the box first?
