Extension Floor - What are the rules?

We are wondering what to do with an extension floor which has the insulation layer exposed throughout (i.e. no concrete layer on top).

Is it possible / allowable to lay a laminate floor (with underlay obviously) directly on top of this, or do building regs require a certain depth of concrete slab/screed on top?

You could install a plywood or T&G chipboard floating floor and then fit your final floor covering to this.

I presume there is an oversite slab beneath the insulation....?

Thanks for your replies. Actually, the layer of celotex is quite thin (about 1 inch) and appears to be laid directly over the concrete floor underneath, within which I presume there would be the 90mm layer of insulation as required by building regs (inspections were previously carried out before we acquired the property). So it might be good to keep this extra layer of insulation and lay board on top in readiness for laminate, or possibly proper floor tiles depending on what we decided to do.
