Rear single storey extension 3 x 4 meters has now had planning approved. My friend who is a ground worker will be building; foundations, footings and the block and brick work. I propose to have aluminium bi-fold doors and window fitted by a Smart Systems franchisee. This just leaves the tiled roof which will be a pitched with a hip with two Velux windows. Should I approach a roofer or a carpentry & joinery firm for this work?

You would hopefully use a local joiner for the actual roof framing, and a local roofer for the roof coverings.
But first you must have a drawing and discuss it with the tradesmen before any building work starts.

Mebbe only has a planning drawing?

I've lost count of the amount of customers that invite me to quote whilst offering me a planning based drawing only. Almost all of the architects tell their clients that there will be a b'regs drawing required (and more cost), but this usually falls on deaf ears.

I usually stand at the door, ask for a building footprint size and give them a minimum £1000 p/m² price. "Give me a call when you have some proper drawings....."

Thanks Vinn, You're are right, I'm waiting for the detailed drawings, which I need before asking anyone for prices.
However, I just wanted an idea in principle of who to approach for pricing?
