Extension (Roof) Insulation & Downlights

Are your GU10s halogen or led?

“allowing an area around the fitting for ventilation” is exactly the problem you’re aiming to resolve btw; use cool running temperature bulbs and seal the hoods well

I deliberately wasn’t specific about the kind of insulation, as that’s an exercise for the reader, balancing many factors. Only you can know your appetite for materials, prices etc, but for sure blown-in loose fill is a sight easier than demolishing things to get enough access for other forms

Phillips Hue LED GU10s.

Yeah true, but they all say to leave a bit of a gap at the sides of the can, and just "lay" it over the top.

Price won't be too much as there shouldn't be THAT much to use, it's not like I'm insulating my entire loft.
It's an interesting idea though! Providing I could do it without "filling" that area "too" much. (Still need an air void).
Definitely one to look into, cheers.

For the dressing room, I'm hoping the roofers can access that from above since that's just tiles then the breathable membrane.

If you’re after keeping a bit of a gap I dare say you’ll be able to find some “loft lid” type things that are flexible enough to be able to be fitted through the downlighter hole - perhaps even half a 2l pop bottle, cut down one side so it can be shaped smaller, fit through the hole and expanded after (and the wire pass through the cut side)

mould your known silicone ones using a bottle as a former? :)
