Exterior corner block sealing

Hello

On the exterior of my house, there are decorative corner blocks designed to create a corner effect. However, instead of being a single, continuous piece wrapping around the corner, they are separate pieces on each side, leaving a small gap that exposes the actual corner of the house.

At some point in the past, someone applied a sealant to the horizontal and vertical gaps between the corner blocks. However, the sealant is now deteriorating and peeling away, allowing water to seep in behind.

I plan to remove the old sealant and clean the joints — but what brand and type of sealant would be best suited for this application?

Thanks

Stick on decorative quoin stones would normally be pointed up with the adhesive used for fixing them. So any thing that stays flexible.

Would you any recommendations on a brand / range? These corners are exposed to sun, wind and rain.

There is such a large range, from one supplier I had been looking at :-

- Soudal Fix ALL Flexi Sealant & Adhesive,
- HA6 Marine Silicone Sealant,
- Soudal Grip ALL Hybrid Polymer Adhesive,
- Bond-It PU18 Polyurethane Sealant & Adhesive,
- GB Pro Advanced Polymer Adhesive Sealant
- CT1
etc

Happy to take a recommendation based on experience of any other brand / type.

Thanks

If those quoins are painted, you will need an acrylic mastic or better still a polymer mastic, anything else and paint won't stick - check the product data sheets. You don't need specific adhesive products, and again check the product data sheet for adhesives to confirm UV resistance

You may be better off with a trowelled mastic product, as this may be easier to apply and you will get a better finish and be more economical.
