Hi,when painting exterior woodwork is spot priming bare wood, then undercoating over the primer, then undercoating the whole lot, then applying two top coats the way most do it ,using dulux weathershield(oil based)

Yes. Although there are other systems (e.g Leyland Trugard, or Little Greene's traditional oil eggshell).)

Dulux claim to guarantee their Weathershield system for 8 years (oil-based) or 6 years (waterbased), but I suspect they would come up with some reason for not forking out if push came to shove, e.g. you didn't use their recommended primer preserver over the whole surface first, or the paint was used somewhere exposed to the elements (like most of Yorkshire!)

Has anyone successfully claimed against Dulux if their W/S system fails?

Thanks, just out of interest do you spot prime small areas of bare timber with the primer preservative
