I am in the process of laying in a new soil pipe. Before I started digging the area adjacent to the exterior wall (where I will lay the new pipe) was covered in a concrete apron (about 4" thick) that extended about 18" up the wall. this has all cracked and is above the dpc so has bridged it and is a reason why I am having damp problems.

I will be removing the concrete apron anyway to put in the new soil line. Once I have done the work does anyone have any ideas/recommendations as to how I should resurface the area? It has to take the water away from the wall and it is in a damp/dark area. The soil is very poor and is a maximum of a foot deep before solid clay.

Due to the poor drainage & damp conditions its vital that any surface water is taken as far away from the property as possible. I was planning to put a filler of gravel immediately next to the wall to stop any splashback but what about the rest??

Once again, any advice gratefully received.

you could use that perforated drainage pipe, 4"dia I think (or 100mm) under the gravel.
